Im in my second year at school and I need to do a 5 week work term to grad. Im a marketing student so Im going to work on my own business (Gary did up our first logo last year). So Im looking at making a website for my project. I have no idea how to do really anything regards to a website, so why not look at the EFK guys who have helped me before. Only a few requirements without getting into too much detail about what I want for the look, ect.

Im going to need to show my professor what Ive done for my company in regards to marketing (i.e like printouts of the website, ect) which means Im going to have deadlines. My "work term" runs from April 23 to May 25 so I'd need all the work to be done in that timeframe, as well as I need to meet between then once with my employer to show my progression so id need whatever work as done at the point (probably early May) to show them what I have completed thus far.

Im going to discuss with Mark if he can hook me up with some cheap web hosting so I can get the site all up and running, but is it realistic to have a website done in the time frame I provided? I have no idea how long it takes to design and en-code (I wont be looking for something crazy in regards to site design). I have no idea the size of the website either as doesn't the cost to have a site base upon how large the content size is?

So with the site thing not 100% decided upon, could I do like the $40 for the site and edits, and then if I can arrange something with Mark pay the $10 to get it en-coded?

5. Im also going to need flyers, logos, perhaps a logo that would look better on Facebook than say our "official" logo. I was wondering if I could get some form of discount or whatever on these smaller things.

Just because I'm curious;

What kind of business it it and what do you plan on calling it? I should also point out as someone who can design websites that if someone has the time, your time frame is very achievable assuming you have the hosting all sorted out.

@ Mark, excellent. I remember you helped Pat with AudiblyOffensive and you wouldnt try and fuck me over with some BS plus your my go to tech guy. Bascially only need the watermarks to get the grade and when I find out what im working this summer I'll make my decision on making this a full blown site or not.

Surly if i'm paying for a whole graphic orgy of shit (site, flyers, t-shirt designs) a new logo is a possibility, but I loved how Gary got what I wanted with the arm bicep and horse concept, so a new rendition of that, and definatly a Facebook/Twitter friendly version would be great.

And this is one of those things where I dont wanna end up paying for something I dont like, but I can show similar local sites that do what we do and what they offer. The following are examples of local business somewhat similar to what were doing:

Ive seen hundreds of efeds with waaay better site designs. Seeing as how some of these are full time, fully licensed/trained businesses and my company is student ran company currently only during the summer, a very catching website can help us stand out. A lot of these look like they didnt have a graphics guy make it, which is why (my expectations are VERY reasonable) I think I can find someone who can make a site way better than those.


Only problem in regards to site design is lots of sites have pictures of work done, we dont have any so stock photos would probably need to be used.

I would take it on, but my partners due date is in 4 days.  So I am going to have little to no spare time to take this on especially with a newborn in the house.  Sorry bud, otherwise I would.

Not sure whether Gary or Russ would be able to do it?

Lemme think about an Idea that could be possible to knock together, but it would all be done in CSS.

Depending on what you are wanting it to show/display there is a possibility I could do it.  I mean, how many pages are you looking for?

Essentially what that first site example was (www.neatlawn.ca) would be the closest thing that Id kinda look for. Just very simple not a lot of pages, however I want the design to be clean and modern.

And a Flyer would be fairly easy to design, and not sure about a new version of the logo, but we can just focus on the site for now.

CSS is a stylesheet code.

I have stayed away from designing it in Photoshop because I cant cut sites for shit.  However, all the additional images etc can be loaded into this from photoshop, this is merely a layout

Well I packed everyone in my house off to bed and decided to dust off my website package and came up with this as a rough idea of something (believe it or not it is actually a website under the influx of colours)



Obviously you would have to use your imagination of what goes where once it is finished with the correct images etc. and the menu bar is adaptable, thats just a coded I have used before

Its adaptable and can put in what you want If you want to head down this route, and believe it or not, the design is already 95% coded.

What colour scheme are you after?
What does the business do? is it just lawns or what etc

That actually looks great (boarders/sitemap). The only thing I dont like is the look of the "Home, About, ect" buttons. Is there anyway you could like make a image for each of those, so it doesn't look so... basic I guess.

Black and silver looks great for the color scheme. The business does:

Lawn Mowing, Pressure Washing & Deck Staining.

Like I say, the coding is 95% done, I just need to do the images to fit which shouldn't take long if I get a solid hour or two over the next few days, Have a few ideas and will change the menu bar (I just put that on for an idea of where it would be)

If you want to go ahead and sort out with Duckman/whoever the deposit for EFK and I will crack on with it.  Copyme in on PM's and for anythign specific you want on there PM me the info (contact details, about us info, services etc) because depending on how much info there is and if it will be updated or not, there are two different ways I will do it.
