RE: NRWF Carnage: Week Five

Writers,

With only five of you guys, left, things are going to be picking up and picking up FAST. Pay attention to the one-week deadline, and let's put on another show for the smarks of the world, yeah?

Opening segment: In-Ring Promo
Workers involved: Darrius King/Chance Delfino
Writers needed: David

Well, gentlemen -- the ratings speak for itself and the dirt sheets are buzzing with news about Darrius King becoming the new NRWF champion. This promo's gotta rival the theatricality of last year's infamous "King Darrius" promo in terms of pomp and circumstance, with King doing what he does best -- shit-talking. We've got Hale booked for a segment later, but for now, we want King to boast about what he did and the manner in which he did it. Let's get into King's head a little bit, but keep that street swag he's known for. Near the end, let's then have him open court, so to speak, for a new contender with Hale out of the picture -- none other than Chance Delfino. Use Chance's brilliant new gimmick, and let's get everyone excited for a match that's never been seen in the NRWF.

Second segment: Backstage Angle
Workers involved: Greg Anthony/Grant Goodson/Salem
Writers needed: Russ

Jinx has got the week off to sell the hell he went through last week in his angle and post-match beatdown, so Greg Anthony's basically come back to avenge his old tag team partner. Have Goodson and Salem brag about their new alliance when something gets Bones' girl to leave momentarily. With Grant all alone, let's have Anthony come through and corner the little shitbag, saying that what the MMA prodigy did to Grant at "High Voltage" is gonna look like child's play compared to what he's gonna do to him tonight. We want Greg looking like the ultimate, no-nonsense badass here, so let's play that up.

Third segment: Backstage Promo
Workers involved: Jericho Price
Writers needed: Reaper

Despite our main event for tonight, Jericho and Chance is our big money-maker in the upper-midcard, so let's remind everyone that Price and Chance is one-to-one at this point. This is gonna be a quick throw in terms of time, so let's have the camera on Price and follow him as he does what he does, all the while lamenting the idea that Chance is suddenly in the main event where the Union Jackal should be. Most importantly, we have to sell that Jericho's got something planned, but isn't gonna reveal what it is quite yet for our main event.

Fourth segment: In-Ring Promo
Workers involved: Bones O'Brien/Lee Gardner
Writers needed: MDK

After last week's affair, we need to put Lee Gardner back in the minds of the NRWF audience. For the last six months, we've been teasing the Bones and Gardner feud, and tonight is where we plan to the pull the trigger. Have Gardner come out and sell the beating he took at the hands of Bones a few weeks ago, how it put him on the shelf, and what's been going through his mind, since. When things are hitting a fever pitch, we hear that guitar and out comes Bones with Salem to point out that while Gardner's gotten worse as he got older, Bones got BETTER. Remember, we've got two well-known veterans, so we have to make sure there's some real fire and history between these two (especially since they can't stand each other in real-life). Let's end this with a staredown before Bones decides to back up and walk away.

Final segment: Backstage Angle
Workers involved: Hale/Chance Delfino
Writers needed: Kieran King

Chance is getting his first main event on Carnage, and he's gotta sell it as a dream come true while still coming across as his new, cocky daredevil self. Hopefully, he can get the crowd going when suddenly, we hear a disturbance elsewhere and BAM -- scarred, battered, and bruised is our new main event babyface, Hale. Looking worse for wear, he's gotta get right into Chance's face and let him know right then and there: if he doesn't give Darrius King the beating of his life, Hale's gonna have the BOTH of them on his radar. Keep Hale's words here intense, but short and sweet. His lone wolf attitude is gonna mean that he's gonna do a lot less of his usual philosophical talk. End this with Hale leaving, but Chance still looking like the man who just might be able to topple DK.

Kieran King:
(The scene opens up backstage near the entrance curtain, with Chance Delfino in his wrestling attire, staring straight down the barrel of the camera in front of a large NRWF logo.)

Chance: “This is it. This is what we’ve been waiting for! I’ve been writing cheques that only my body can cash, so it’s time to role that dice and see what the numbers hold for Chance Delfino. I know damn well that Darrius King’s gonna have a couple of aces up his sleeve; he’s not the type to put anything to chance. But at the end of the day, that’s all there really is: Chance. One little butterfly can flap its wings in Africa, and all of a sudden, your new NRWF Champion is none other than Chance Delfino. I’m gonna show you all that men can fly... I’m gonna show you that I’m the man of tomorrow... today”.

(Chance’s speech is cut short by some yelling in the distance. He looks in that direction, and the camera follows his gaze to see a group of officials surrounding an individual who cannot be clearly seen. The small crowd begins to come closer and closer, until it can finally be identified that the officials are surrounding Hale, who is looking a little worse-for-wear. The group becomes quiet as soon as Hale catches sight of Chance, and he pushes his way clear, making a beeline straight for the young contender.)

Hale: “You...”

Chance: “Me.”

(Chance doesn’t give any ground to Hale, standing his ground, facing him head-on.)

Hale: “King...”

Chance: “What about him?”

Hale: “I want his head.”

(Hale’s angry, and Chance can sense this, but he realises at this point that he’s not Hale’s target at this point, so he actually relaxes a little, even smiling a little as he delivers the next line.)

Chance: “You can have it, I’m after his gold.”

Hale: “If you do not deliver, I will clip your wings myself. Understand?”

Chance: “Keep on stacking those decks. This is what I live for.”

(Hale snorts at this.)

Hale: “Well then, it is in your best interest to succeed.”

(Hale turns and walks back the way he came, the crowd of officials parting for him as he goes by. Chance watches him leave, but then turns to the camera once more.)

Chance: “King...

(Chance smiles and shakes his head.)

Chance: “...no chance.”

(Chance’s music hits over the PA system, as he makes his way towards the curtain.)

Jose The Law Ramon:
[OPEN UP TO THE SOUND OF TRUMPETS BLARING AND A LARGE PROCESSION OF REGALLY DRESSED TRUMPETERS STRUTTING OUT AS THEY PLAY THEIR MUSIC. AS THE PROCESSION STAND IN TWO LINES ACROSS FROM EACH OTHER, A LARGE RED CARPET IS ROLLED OUT WHILE SCANTILY CLAD WOMEN SKIP OUT, PITCHING FLOWER PETALS OUT ON THE PATH BEFORE WE SEE DARRIUS KING ENTER OUT, THE NRWF CHAMPIONSHIP CARRIED ON HIS SHOULDER WITH HIS CHEST OUT AS HE PRIMPS AND PREENS WITH THE TITLE. AFTER A FEW MOMENTS HOWEVER, AN ANNOYED EXPRESSION GETS ON HIS FACE AS HE WALKS BACKSTAGE, COMING BACK OUT WITH A MICROPHONE.]

DK: No no, cut this mess, cut it!!

[THE TRUMPETERS LOOK TO EACH OTHER IN CONFUSION AS DARRIUS STARTS TO SHOO THEM ALL AWAY. THE GIRLS PREPARE TO LEAVE, BUT DARRIUS HOLDS THEM BACK.]

DK: Hang on there, honeys – you’re going to provide some entertainment lata. First, Imma do me. Then… Imma do you.

[DARRIUS GIVES A SMIRK BEFORE HE TURNS TO THE CROWD, WHO ARE ALL RISING TO GIVE HIM TREMENDOUS HEAT.]

DK: See, even though I’m the greatest thing alive today and rightfully hold the title that should have been mine since day one – and will be mine even after the worst happens – one thing I’ve always said since day one is ‘Imma always be me,’ and fancy trumpets and pomp and circumstance ain’t me. So, let’s kick this shiz off right!

[DARRIUS MOTIONS FOR SOMETHING TO COME OUT AS A NUMBER OF PEOPLE START TO WALK OUT FROM THE CURTAIN, LOOKING AROUND AT THE CROWD AND AT THE SURROUNDINGS AS THEY ALL GREET DARRIUS WARMLY, HEADING AS A GIANT MOB TOWARDS THE RING AT A STRUT. THEY ALL TAKE A MOMENT TO SURROUND THE RING BEFORE ENTERING AS ONE, ONE OF THE MANY HOLDING OPEN THE RING ROPES TO ALLOW DARRIUS TO ENTER WHILE ANOTHER OFFERS TO HOLD HIS CHAMPIONSHIP FOR HIM. AS THEY ALL HIGH FIVE AND GREET EACH OTHER, DARRIUS LOOKS TO THE GROUP AS HE ADMIRES THE NUMBERS.]

DK: You know, seeing all my boys up here with me since my days getting’ outta the hood and whatnot as we stand at the top of the mountain here in the NRWF, I just had to ask one question.

[DARRIUS SHARES A SMILE WITH THE OTHERS BEFORE GRABBING THE TITLE BELT OUT OF THE HANDS OF ONE OF THEM, SHOVING HIM DOWN TO THE GROUND AS HE STARES HATEFULLY AT THE OTHERS.]

DK: WHERE THE F*** WAS YOU!? HUH!? WHERE WAS YOU WHEN I WAS FENDING OFF ALL THOSE PATHETIC, NO-TALENT, MOUTH-BREATHING LOSERS OUT HERE!? AND THE REST OF THE GUYS OF THE NRWF!? YOU KNOW WHAT, GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE!

[KING DRIVES ALL THE SURPRISED MEN OUT OF THE RING, CLEARING EVERYONE AWAY UNTIL FINALLY ONLY HE IS LEFT AS HE TURNS TO ADDRESS THE CROWD.]

DK: See, unlike the rest of you I didn’t NEED no help gettin’ to where I am today – I was a man among boys even back in grade school, and here I’m a God among men! So with that in mind, it’s time we get out the one bit of ceremony that I told NRWF to bring out. I may not need trumpeters or 'coat hangers' or a court of fools like some of the other clowns around here, but I am the champ and the King o’ Bling! So gentlemen, bring out the goods!

[WE SEE A GROUP OF STAGE HANDS WALKING OUT, CARRYING AN ORNATE THRONE WHILE ANOTHER GROUP BRING OUT A LARGE RED CARPET OF SOME KIND. AS THEY CLIMB INTO THE RING, THOSE HOLDING THE CARPET ROLL IT OUT UNTIL IT COVERS THE RING AND RING APRON WHILE DARRIUS LOOKS ON AND NODS FROM THE TURNBUCKLES. FINALLY AFTER SOME MANUEVERING, THE THRONE IS LIFTED INTO THE CENTER OF THE RING AS DARRIUS SCATTERS THEM ALL BEFORE FINALLY SITTING IN THE THRONE, HIS LEGS UP IN THE AIR AND PERCHED ON THE ARM RESTS.]

DK: Now then, seeing as how Hale’s already been made my bitch – not to mention what happened to Johnny Go Bye-Bye, looks like I need someone else to punch around for a while. So who wants the honor of being the first guy getting his ass handed to him by the rightful champ?

[THE SOUND OF SLOTS RINGING AND BELLS AND WHISTLES GOING OFF IS HEARD AS THE CROWD GETS TO ITS FEET WHILE OUT COMES CHANCE DELFINO, HIS NEW THEME PLAYING.

--- Quote ---(THINK SOMETHING LIKE “Espionage”)
--- End quote ---

DARRIUS KING GETS A SLIGHTLY BEMUSED LOOK ON HIS FACE WHILE CHANCE TAKES A MOMENT TO LOOK TOWARDS THE CROWD BEFORE TURNING HIS ATTENTION TO DARRIUS.]

CD: So, you ask King who’s feeling a bit ‘lucky?’ Well funny you should ask, because as of late I’ve had a dance or two with Lady Luck.

DK: No, the only thing funny here is outta all the competition here in NRWF I get the ‘Take-Out’ kid… or should I call you the ‘Taken-Out’ kid? Why don’t you do yourself a favor and bring me back some egg rolls or somethin’.

[DARRIUS SMIRKS AS CHANCE’S EYES NARROWS.]

CD: ’Kid’ or not, I’m a wrestler as much as you are, and I dare say I’m twice the athlete you claim to be.

[DARRIUS STANDS UP SHOCKED FROM CHANCE’S WORDS.]

DK: Say that again.

CD: Well it’s just that you claim you’ve been the rightful champ, and yet… who have we rightfully seen you beat? Have you even beaten anyone with just your fists instead of your mouth and chain?

DK: What, you mean compared to how I blasted Hale's ass and practically crippled Johnny Revolver forever? Yeah, what've you done compared to that?

CD: Maybe I don't have the high profile wins, but then again I wasn't coppin' out and using tools to help me like a whiny little bitch.

[BOTH DARRIUS AND CHANCE LOOK SHOCKED AT HIS WORDS BEFORE DARRIUS LOOKS DEADLY SERIOUS AT CHANCE.]

DK: Ok wise-ass, I was goin’ to let you slide by, but you feelin’ froggy? Alright, jump right in this ring and see what you can do to hang with the champ. But I’m ‘bout to have you eatin’ them words like they was Johnny Revolver’s liquid diet in the hospital.

CD: That’s certainly ONE possibility. But when Chance is involved… you never know.

[THE TWO STARE EACH OTHER DOWN AS WE GO TO BREAK.]

Russ:
(The scene cuts backstage where Salem is walking down a corridor, sneering at various staff members who seem intimidated by her leather-clad biker chick look. Just behind her is Grant Goodson who throws a nasty look at every staff member intimidated by Salem as if to emphasise the message being sent by Bones' girl. Finally Salem reaches out to a staff member, shoving them up against the wall as Goodson laughs at them with a smirk.)

Goodson: "Hey punk, take a damn hike before I slap that look straight off your face."

(The staff members remains where he is as Goodson gets closer, shaking his head.)

Goodson: "I said... take a damn hike..."

(The staff member stays there, holding his chest in pain from where Salem had just pushed him. Suddenly Salem steps up next to Goodson, cracking her knuckles and the staff member immediately takes off. Goodson nods his head, watching the man leave with glee.)

Goodson: "Yeah! That's what I thought... we make a good little team Salem, what number special was that?"

Salem: "It wasn't, that was just a case of being a badass. You should try it out sometime... could do you wonders."

Goodson: "Uh, sure, it's on my 'to do' list. But seriously though, we OWN this place now. Me, you and Bones, we're the future now. My dad would be smiling from ear to ear if he could see how good I... we... are now. You see the look on Jinx's face when we destroyed him last week? Well... what's left of his face after that mirror cut him up like a paper snowflake. THAT is what I'm talking about baby, THAT is not to be taken for Granted!"

Salem: "That's sweet, really, but we're not all about cute catchphrases and beating up lackeys. I want my Hall of Fame Ring, Grant, and I expect that I'll be getting it soon. Bones and I have stuck to our side of the bargain, even if ending Jinx was kinda fun, and so you've got to stick to yours."

(Goodson nods his head, silently promising that Salem will get what she desires. The biker chick stops her walk, turning back to Goodson who looks her up and down briefly.)

Salem: "Eyes off before I tell your precious Daddy. Now, I've got some things to attend to... think you can manage to keep out of trouble?"

Goodson: "Possibly, but then again I'm not paying you to not protect me. Be quick."

Salem: "I'll take as long as I need, just make sure that you get our side of the bargain sorted."

Goodson: "Of course, you can trust me."

(Salem stares unimpressed.)

Salem: "Quite frankly I wouldn't trust you to keep breathing. I'll be back soon."

(She turns away, walking around the corner leaving Goodson alone. He reaches into his pocket, pulling out an expensive cell phone as he punches in a number and puts it to his ear, turning to walk back in the opposite direction; however as he turns he stops dead, putting the phone back into his pocket slowly. The camera moves around to show none other than Greg Anthony stood right in his way, fuming and ready to go with clenched fists as Goodson begins to walk backwards away from the MMA Expert.)

Goodson: "Greg! Good to see you again, how're you keepin--"

Anthony: "If I were you Goodson I'd keep that mouth of yours FIRMLY DAMN SHUT BEFORE I KNOCK THOSE TEETH CLEAN OUT!"

(Goodson's eyes bulge with fear as Anthony begins to advance on him, staring him down with sheer anger. Goodson continues to back up, desperately trying to avoid any confrontation with Anthony before finally he backs right up into a wall, and he turns with a start. Staring back at the wall Goodson lets out a squeak of fear before he turns to see Anthony right on him, pinning him up against the wall. Anthony gets right in his face, the anger clear cut as he pushes in on Goodson.)

Anthony: "Where's your big biker bitch? Or his skank? Uh oh... looks like you're all alone Goodson... all alone with a man who'd happily smash your damn skull in. You thought it was real 'cool' when Bones did a number on Jinx, huh? That get you all excited that nobody could come anywhere near NRWF's fortunate son? Well that's a shame Goodson, because no matter who's at ringside with you in our match... I'm gonna do a number on you. What I did to you at "High Voltage" will be nothing but CHILD'S PLAY compared to tonight... tonight Goodson you get yours. And yours have been SERIOUSLY overdue."

(Anthony backs up, staring Goodson down as Grant cowers slightly against the wall. Anthony throws a punch, pulling it at the last second as Goodson covers up and Anthony simply shakes his head, walking off for his match as he leaves his opponent shaken-up and already searching for Bones O'Brien...)
