Music / Re: When I get lame and emo, I listen to...
« on: August 19, 2009, 06:03:35 PM »
Emo isn't lame. There is a lot of good bands out there who are considered emo. For example, Saves the Day. One of my favourite bands is considered emo. Now, you probably wouldnt' like the lyrics or anything like that, but the MUSIC is amazing. They used killer effects on their lead. I don't necessarily categorize any music anymore. I can listen to pretty much anything as long as it catches my interest.

Way to read, Calvin.

I don't have a problem with people correcting me but I have a problem when people say things like this. I did read, I read every post.. so I took it the wrong way.. who cares? People can misunderstand things. A LOT of people categorize their music as "emo" as well as the emotion. Which also shouldn't be used because I think its wrong to label people like that. But thats not the point. The point was I merely took it the wrong way. Well actually, I took it the right way because emo did start out as a kind of music. and now its a stereotypical fashion statement. So eh.

I didn't say emo was lame, and I surely didn't mean to categorize "emo" as music -- I just said that when I, myself, GET emo, I listen to Damien Rice. That's all, calm down.

okay I get it now. HAH. it can be taken both ways. The band that really hits the spot when I'm upset is well, saves the day. Most notably the album In Reverie. Very chilling music, and amazing guitar effects makes for a good calm down.  I usually play some guitar too.. sometimes Alice in Chains,   or whatever, depends on how upset i am and if I"m motivated enough to tune my guitar.

XWA represent. It's amazing you can still write a pretty decent match despite how long XWA's been down for.

Music / Re: New Alice In Chains song released.
« on: July 10, 2009, 05:23:33 PM »
I just see it as they wanting to make a new album. The song has a vibe from dirt to me, the vocals actually remind me of jerry's solo albums a little more but they still have the duel harmonys in the vocals that made Alice in Chains unique.  The ending reminds me of the self entitled album cause they always did like, a repeating ending on most songs with just freestyle stuff which I always thought was cool. I don't think the song was produced wrong. This is only one song remember. I agree the vocals aren't the same. But don't judge so quickly. The song is meant to be a single. So obviously its going to sound like a single for modern music. They obviously want to succeed again. They even said they think this album will bring them back to the top. It wont' be as dark as it used to be. I doubt it ever will be. and I just hate to hear people tell the band to change their name. It's like its their band, it wasn't laynes band, and its not like they are disrespecting him. I bet Layne would have wanted them to continue its like don't let my death ruin a good thing sort of deal. They aren't trying to replace him they just want to continue having fun.

well sad to say, I'm an AIC purist. I'd rather they change the name. It's not Alice in Chains. The only reason they are keeping the name is so that they get noticed when they put out a new song. Queen and Paul Rodgers tried to do this last year. It wasn't Queen. When 4-5 musicians get together and form a band, certain elements are staples in their sound. Layne can't be replaced. Imagine if the Beatles tried to do it. It just wouldn't work.

I listen to this sound, and I hear the traditional Alice in Chains duel vocals. I also hear the heavy rhythm and the pounding drums. And I feel the same vibe I always did when I listened to Alice in Chains.. a hypnotical vibe so to speak. I hate that everyone says that alice in chains should change their name. You name the beatles, and you name queen. What about ACDC? Their lead singer died, they didn't change. They went out and got a new lead singer. I really like this song. It's the perfect some to release cause it just makes you want to listen to more. Cause it has the flow and it just draws you in and makes you wonder what the rest of the album will bring. Don't judge so quickly until you hear the whole album. It's one song. And personally I can feel the dirt vibe in the song the whole time. So I have no idea what you are talking about. And I think thats bullshit that you say they are only doing it to be noticed.

Rage has the amazing capability of writing these huge songs you can headbang to, without even using more then a bass and a guitar.. it's pretty crazy to think that just using those two instruments can make a song so heavy.

This could be interesting.. I have a million different bands that you probably wouldn't know.. my music variety is so big.. I'll give it a shot if you want to hear some of it. I guarantee you won't like half the music I do though.

Music / My music.

I figured I would post what is music that I have written on my own.. Or atleast, some of it. I'm sure if anyone else here plays instruments, or are looking for bands or whatnot, make up stuff of their own while they look. The songs I posted are guitar pro versions.. in meaning that well, I tabbed them on guitar pro, hit record, and hit play on the program. I can't play some of it yet, as some is out of my level still, but eh.. Does anyone else here have any music of their own they'd like to share? And feel free to criticize, just as long as you can give me logical explanations as to why you like or not like it. Saying "it sucks" is kinda pointless to me. The last song is just a cover of a muse song, its not the perfect cover but eh. Some songs are also not finished, mostly because I haven't thought up the bassline to it or drums or anything like that. My personal favourite is demo 3.. and she never said good bye.

I agree with you, they are trying to take fighting out which is lame. But its still very exciting.. really fast paced now. lots of speed. and as long as you don't go for the head hits usually are okay.. its the head shots everyone hates.
