They used to do this back in PRIDE in Japan.  It was before video cameras got digital and small though. So the ref always looked like he was about to topple over from the weight of the giant camera on his head.

This shouldn't be as bad.

I just wish instead of cameras on refs heads, or all three way matches, they just signed some fucking talent to the X-division  and allowed the wrestlers to put on exciting matches.  All these gimmicks just feel like distractions from the real problems with the X-division, i.e. there's four guys in it and the title means nothing these days.

I don't get why they're having the match in a cage.  Isn't the whole psychology of a cage match that the heel always runs away or people always interfere in the matches, so they have the cage to stop that?

Also, does anyone really want to pay to see another really slow, really deliberate and frankly really boring match between these two?  And that's coming from a Brock mark.

The reason Brock works as a character in WWE these days is because he's the only truly violent and unpredictable guy in the company.  Except when he's in matches with HHH.  Then he just becomes normal big wrestler guy, having normal big wrestler guy match with WWE.

Last year at Extreme Rules Brock vs. Cena was one of the best matches of the last 10 years in WWE.  It was brutal, intense, scary, bloody, violent and completely different from anything we'd seen for a long time - especially involving Cena.

This will probably be the 3rd version of a match we only should have seen once.

Not convinced by this at all at the moment.

Oh and if Brock jobs again I'll cry.

Funny does not equal money.  Then again he's not actually funny either.

Keep saying it, being ironically over for one night with a bunch of smarks isn't the signal that he's going to be WWE's next big thing.  Novelty act is the only way I can describe the gimmick.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Curtis is a good worker and is trying his best, but the gimmick is such a weight around his neck and it's just not clicking with people.

His song didn't crack the Top 40 on Sunday either.  So even the smarks gave up on it after a day or two.

WWE might take a bit longer, but this gimmick just isn't going to make the big impression with the usual RAW and WWE audience that people expect.

We'll come back to this thread in 4 months and see if he's headlining Summerslam and being pushed as a star.

I just don't see it.  WWE's track record of stop/start pushes always leaves me cold with the new flavour of the month because it always feels like they're going to cut the legs out from under them at any time.

The crowd on Monday was a total one off and I just don't see this gimmick turning into something more than an annoying mid card heel.

I've really enjoyed this season of TUF.  Great fights, interesting fighters and much improved production.

MFX44 – It’s Wrestlemania, baby!  Plus Raw is Smark.

The biggest wrestling event of the year is here!  That’s right, it’s MFX44 baby!!  Actually it was Wrestlemania this weekend (like you didn’t know) so of course this is our big Wrestlemania review edition of MFX.

 It’s also going to be the last MFX for around a month as Sir Ian Trumps will be doing his whole “international stag do, celebrity wedding, massive honeymoon” event of a life time.  It’s going to mean MFX is off the air for a few weeks, but it also means one of the founding fathers of MFX is getting married and let’s be honest, that’s slightly more important than doing this podcast...slightly.
Anyway, in the spirit of sending you guys off on a high before we take our mid season break, we’ve got a massive show for you this week.  Think Wrestlemania sized, only more entertaining and with less giant pillars blocking your view or endless hype videos.

We kick the show off this week with news on Ian’s first stag night with his family and friends.  As you would expect it’s a riot of a story with tons of funny moments, including a police dog biting a footballer and Sir Ian’s Dad nearly getting into a fight on the train!  And to think, his crazy, booze filled stag night is still to come!  We also talk Duckman’s Wrestlemania weekend and we get all political with a chat about the death of Margaret Thatcher.

Once all that’s out of the way it’s time for our review of Pillarmania, sorry Wrestlemania, which as usual brings you that classic MFX blend of jokes, salty language and a sprinkling of insight.  It’s a 90 minute recap of Wrestlemania that blows all other Wrestlemania recaps out the water. 

We then review the Raw after Wrestlemania, or Raw is Smark as we like to call it.  It was a crazy crowd at RAW, powered by fans from the UK and Ireland who made it a night like no other.  Our review is pretty much the same, only with less chants and dancing. 

We wrap the show up this week with a review of IMPACT.  Yeah, TNA had a show this week!  Actually it was more of a go-home show for this week’s IMPACT but what can you do?  The show kind of sucked but we squeeze some comedy gold out of it...just.

So that’s MFX off on our holidays for a few weeks.  Duckman is contemplating putting together a best of show to keep the MFX Galaxy going while Sir Ian gets married.  Although more than likely he’ll just take the time off too and enjoy a well earned break.  Also, nothing much really happens after Wrestlemania anyway, so we won’t be missing much.
