Wrestling / What Wrestlemania means to me.
« on: April 03, 2013, 09:26:16 AM »
It's been a while since I've written anything.  Been so busy with MFX, work and life shit.

Anyway, I finally got round to writing this about what Wrestlemania means to me:

http://wrestlingrambles.com/2013/04/02/rambling-road-to-wrestlemania-6/

It's nostalgic and fun and hopefully entertaining.

Enjoy, share, like, comment, acknowledge its existence.

Thanks.

As announced on MFX38 this week, the MFX podcast is proud to announce our new partnership with the Universal Takeover Sports Network who are based in Atlanta, Georgia.  UTNSN (Universal Takeover {Network} Sports Network) is one of the most visited Sports and Entertainment Independent Sites in the US and produces over 10 hours of original content every week on talk radio.

With over 40,000 plus unique hits on their website (www.utnsports.com) every month, along with listeners in over 120 countries, UTNSN are providing MFX with the perfect platform to allow wrestling fans from all around the world to hear MFX’s unique weekly look at WWE and TNA.

Fear not MFX Galaxy, UTNSN are a talk sports network marketed towards adults.  Their tag line is ‘Push the Limits’ and as you guys all know, that’s something MFX has no problem doing.  UTNSN is the perfect fit for MFX and our first show on the network will be MFX39 next week.

This is a big moment for the MFX podcast and both Ian and I are really hopeful about this positive move to get the word out there about MFX.

Be sure to follow the Universal Takeover Sports Network on Twitter - @UTNSN and join the 60,000 other followers who are already there.

MFX will still be posted on MFXPodcast.com every Thursday night and you won’t need to make any changes to your subscriptions on ITunes or Stitcher.  The only difference is UTNSN give us the opportunity to grow our audience and hopefully bring a funny, entertaining and occasionally insightful wrestling discussion podcast to UTNSN.

Exciting times for MFX folks and we hope you guys will continue to listen and support MFX as we take the next step on our way to total world domination.

Wrestling / Duckman on SLTD Wrestling
« on: December 11, 2012, 12:05:38 PM »
Alright folks.  You may have noticed I got rid of the pinned topics about me writing in various places.  Mainly it's because I'm only writing about MMA for Wrestling Rambles and secondly it was a bit lame having loads of pinned topics about myself.

Anyway, I'm now writing for the folks over at Single Leg Take Down (SLTD) Wrestling.  My first article for them is here:

http://sltdwrestling.co.uk/duckmans-year-in-review/

Basically it's me being a dick about the big stories of the year in WWE and TNA.  Someone actually called it hilarious and brilliant...there's no accounting for taste.

Anyway, this is where I'm going to be writing about wrestling on a regular basis, it's much more about fun and comedy than other places I've tried to get gigs recently.  They're letting me write like me which I think makes for a better read.

As always, I'm looking for support from EFKers.  If you read the article please leave a quick comment on their site - it's easy as fuck to comment.  Or if you can give the article a 'like' on FB or give a RT when you I tweet these articles, I'll be externally grateful.

Thanks folks, hope you enjoy the article!

Wrestling / Your WWE Mount Rushmore
« on: December 08, 2012, 08:18:51 AM »
Following on from Heyman and Punk's comments on RAW last week, who would make it onto your WWE Mount Rushmore?

We've probably had a thread like this before (in fact I think I probably started it) but let's get an up to date one.  We discussed this on the latest MFX show and we're asking listeners to send in their picks.

Let's hear from you EFK!

Random Topics / EFK revamp IMPORTANT - ALL READ.
« on: November 11, 2012, 09:42:33 AM »
Hey folks,

Just thought you guys should know about some updates, redesign and downtime we'll be having with EFK over the next week or so.

First off we're moving servers.  This is because of the constant irritation of error messages and slow load times we've had with Yahoo as our host over the past year.  Judge has found us a great new host to switch to, which will hopefully prove more reliable and stable than Yahoo has over the past year.  I'll post a time table for the server switch at the end of this post which Judge has outlined.  Bear in mind things could change - but it's what we're currently aiming for.

Secondly we're going to be completely redesigning the front page.  It's been dead nearly all year and is a source of constant embarrassment and annoyance for us!  The new front page will also link in with MFX as we're looking to incorporate and promote MFX here.  We're currently getting in touch with designers to see who wants to take this project on board.  The front page will then be updated regularly (when new MFX goes up, when something big is going down on the forums, etc).  The design will be moving away from the Knights theme and into something more modern and sexy.

Thirdly, as part of the revamp we will be refreshing the forums.  New boards, new names, new descriptions, new forum leaders.  There won't be many changes other than reorganising things and generally cleaning the forums up.  We will still have all the efedding stuff in one section, MFX Podcast in another, plus all the other forums that are used for social discussion, games etc.

Fear not, this won't mean you can't find your favourite board.  It just means EFK will be fresher, better organised and looking good as we move into 2013.

If you've got any questions, suggestions, ideas, complaints, please let me, Ian, Judge or B know in a PM and we'll get back to you.

Ok, here's Judge's timetable for the server switch over - which is phase one of the EFK revamp:

Here's my roadmap for the switchover

Saturday November 10 -- FTPing the site down from Yahoo

Sunday November 11-- Uploading the site to New host

Monday November 12 -- Giving a 1 week "Wrap your stuff up" notice on the forums.  This will give mafia games a chance to find an end or pause point, and any tournaments or whatever will know what's happening.

Saturday November 17 -- Taking the forums offline, and trying to find a way to transfer the SQL over.   This will be the big cutover day.  I'll upload the SQL and establish the site on the new host.  I'll switch DNS over to the new host.  This shouldn't take all day but plan on it anyhow in case.

Sunday November 18 -- Site should be back online and DNS should be close to if not completely propagated.

Rest of the week -- Beta and stress testing the site see how it performs and if we get any errors or whatever.

So there we have it folks, exciting times coming up here and hopefully with new server, a regularly updated and redesigned front page, plus a damn good clean up and editing of the forums, EFK will be ready to rock in 2013!

Again, any questions etc, please PM one of the admin (red) bitches.

Peace

TV/Film / Little Help - movie advice needed.
« on: October 21, 2012, 06:19:37 AM »
Ok, so a couple of people I work with have lead very sheltered movie watching lives.  To the point where both have seen Snake on a Plane, but neither have seen Alien.

So, EFK, I'm looking for some help.  We're planning on having a movie night where we'll drink a few beers and watch a couple of classic movies.  This is where you come in.

I'm looking for your number one must see movie of all time.  The kind of movie that changed you as a person after watching it.  My friends need educated on good movies and I couldn't think of a better group of people to ask than you lot!

So, what movie MUST you see before you die?  Leave 'em here and I'll let you know which ones we pick to watch.

Thanks.

Peace

MMA / Duckman's Championship Rounds
« on: October 13, 2012, 07:07:49 AM »
Hey folks, I thought you guys might like to know I've started writing a MMA column for the folks over at Wrestling Rambles.

The first one was posted last night.  I look at 5 big stories or events from the week in MMA and try to write about them in an entertaining fashion.

This week I'm looking at the last two UFC Fuel and FX shows, plus Batista's MMA debut, the continuing decline of Mayhem Miller and a preview of UFC 153.

If you read it, it'd be great if you could leave a comment at WR, or maybe RT the link if you're on Twitter.  I'm trying my hand at writing about MMA to add another string to my bow (so to speak) because writing about wrestling just depressed the fuck out of me these days!

Anyway, if you've got a spare few minutes, check it out and leave a comment if you can.  Any support from EFK will be much appreciated.  I'll post the link to the new article here each week.

Thanks guys.
